Chorus Calendar Update: May 14- New Date for Chorus Awards Night

Back to Chorus Night – This Wednesday, 9/18

This night exists so that more detailed information can be shared about the scope of our program and the year ahead. There is so much more to learn outside of Back to School Night. Please make every effort to attend (both students and parents).

6:00-7:00 pm: New To Chorus Meet & Greet in the Cafeteria

The Parents for Choral Arts (PCA) cordially invite those parents and guardians who are new to South Lakes Chorus to come an hour before Back to Chorus Night to meet the PCA Officers, other adults with kids in your singer’s choral group, and learn more about the ways adults support the choral program throughout the year.

7:00-8:15 pm: Full Choral Department Meeting in the Theatre

An in-depth view of the department goals and initiatives for this year will be presented.  Thus, All parents and students (returning and new) are expected to attend. 

All students will participate in a breakout session where new students will be assigned their mentor for the year, and students will participate in ice breaker activities as a department.

All Chorus Forms & Fees Due 9/18

South Lakes HS Chorus Course Materials FEE: $160 (Required for All students)

All payments should be made through MySchoolBucks and are due 9/18/2019.

This fee is similar to the required fees for certain, other FCPS classes, and it covers materials related to the Chorus Course:

  • black binder
  • sight reading factory
  • technology
  • pencil
  • T-shirt
  • accompanist
  • choreographer
  • sectional instructor
  • awards
  • any other consumable materials related to the Course

South Lakes HS Chorus Uniform FEES are in addition to the Chorus Materials Fee described above. 

Gown Fee: One-Time Payment of $75 (Due 9/18/19) for All New Students and those Returning Students who need a replacement

We order Gowns through the school, and as such, payments should be made online through MySchoolBucks.

Tuxedo/Tux Components Fees: All Tuxedo/Tux Components are ordered through an outside vendor, Metropolitan Formalwear, and the fees are:

  • One-Time Payment of $91.16 for All New Students
  • One-Time Payment of $19.08 for All Returning Students

NOTE: Metropolitan must receive a full payment at the time of fittings.

Important Information about Fees

The county will waive and pay the uniform fee for any student who receives free/reduced lunch AND has done the consent to share form: Consent-to-Share-Info

Winter Chorus Trip to Disney: 12/4 – 7, 2019

Payment #2 ($230) is due 9/30/19: Www.myschoolbucks.com

The last day to use Scrip rebates for this trip is 10/11/2019.  The trip coordinator will contact you if you can use Scrip rebate money towards a trip payment.

Candlelight Processional Blind Auditions

Any students who performed at Carnegie Hall last year DO NOT need to audition again for the Candlelight Processional, since they already auditioned.  

We are adding a Disney Performing Arts Workshop where all students on the trip will participate and learn from Disney performers.

Enrichment Opportunities

Choral Arts Society of Washington Youth Choir

The ensemble is comprised of 9th grade 12th grade “all-star” singers from area high schools.  Youth Choir is looking to expand the scope of the group and extending an invitation to our Chorus students.
