Senior Honors Choir Audition
Registration Form & Fee – Due Tomorrow, Tuesday, 9/11
Senior Honors Choir Auditions will be October 13, 2018 at Longwood University. Seniors interested in this opportunity must complete the student registration form and turn in audition fee to Mrs. Gigliotti no later than September 11, 2018.

PCA President’s Message
Parents and Guardians of Choral students are welcome to attend the September Meeting of the Parents for Choral Arts (PCA,) where we will fill a Board vacancy, vote in the PCA Budget for the year, and have an in-depth discussion about planning for the NYC Trip for the advanced choirs.
The meeting is at 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, September 11, in the Choir Room. We hold a general meeting the second Tuesday of each month.
We have an opening for a Secretary, whose duties consist of taking notes during monthly meetings, preparing those minutes for posting to the website, and participating in Executive Board discussions and votes as needed through email between meeting dates. Back to Chorus Night (2 parts) – This Thursday, 9/13
Back to Chorus Night (separate from Back to School Night) is designed to help all chorus families get acclimated to the new school year and understand the mission and scope of the program. Changes to the program, new initiatives and a comprehensive picture of this year’s expectations, performances & events will be presented.
New to Chorus Meet & Greet – 6:30-7:00 pm (New Time), Cafeteria
New to South Lakes Chorus parents and guardians are invited to come an hour before Back to Chorus Night to meet the PCA Officers, other adults with kids in your singer’s choral group, and learn more about the ways adults support the choral program throughout the year.
Mandatory Back to Chorus Night – 7:00-8:15 pm, Theatre
An in-depth view of the department goals and initiatives for this year will be presented. All parents (returning and new) and all students (returning and new) are expected to attend. (New students will be meeting separately with the student chorus officers to get acquainted and learn about the program in the cafeteria).

We would like to speak with all advanced choir parents about the Carnegie Hall trip (part of the Spring NYC Trip.) It is critical that you attend Back to Chorus Night.
Parent Volunteer(s) Needed:
We are still looking for organized and detail-oriented parent(s) to chair/co-chair the Scrip Sales. All work can be done outside of school/work hours. Reply to this email for more information and you’ll be contacted by the person who held these jobs previously.
Scrip Sales Chair/Co-Chairs
To raise money to help individual students finance their NY trips, we sell scrip, gift cards to many popular stores and restaurants. They are sold at face value, and we get a percentage back for each card. We need a parent to coordinate the program. The previous chair will train you and work with you until you are comfortable in the role.
Chorus Department Kick-off Fundraiser

Gowns & Tuxedo Components Fitting/Exchange for Returning Students
This Thursday, 9/13 6:00-6:45 pm in Chorus Room/Girls Dressing Room
We do have gowns and tuxedo components in various sizes in inventory. Returning students who may need a new uniform should come to this special session to be re-fitted. Students should bring in their old uniforms, recently dry-cleaned and with plastic still on it for a potential exchange.
Options:
- If you find a uniform in inventory that works for you, we can offer that uniform as an exchange when you turn in your old uniform (dry-cleaned and still in plastic.)
- Exchanges will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
- If alterations are necessary, you will need to arrange and pay for the service yourself. (See the information under New Students/Uniforms on our website.)
- If an exchange cannot be made, you will need to purchase a new uniform.
Gowns:
- The cost is $75. Please pay through MySchoolBucks (as shown under New Students below) or by a check made out to SLHS.
- You are responsible for getting alterations done and paying for the service (see under new students)
Tuxedos:
- The cost for each component is listed below.
- You will need to order new uniforms through Metropolitan Formalwear just like the new students.
Volunteer Needs:
We need parent volunteers to help conduct the Gowns & Tuxedo Components Fitting/Exchange on Thursday, 9/13 (the night of Back to Chorus Night) from 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm. If you can help, please email Mitsuyo Sprague at msprague61@outlook.com ASAP.
Important Update on Tuxedo Pants
Metropolitan Formalwear is not able to provide hemming for the pants this year.
- Students will need to take their pants to any cleaners or tailor shop and get the pants hemmed.
- The cost of hemming should be around $8.
- The original price for the pants ($38) has been reduced by $8.48 (hemming for the pants + tax.)
