Senior Honors Choir Auditions 2015

Seniors,

Seniors Honors Choir Auditions will be October 11, 2014 at Longwood University.

Senior Honors Choir is a Virginia Music Educators Association Honors Choir. It is one of the most elite honors choirs you can be a part of in your high school career. The choir is only open to 12 grade students enrolled ClassOf2015in Choral programs throughout the State of VA.

You should start working on the designated audition piece over the summer months. The state requires me to do pre-screenings for the audition. The deadline for the audition registration will be during the first week of school. This means, I will be hearing pre-screenings and collecting your forms and fees no later than September 5th.

This year the audition is on October 11. Yes – I know, it is an SAT date and our homecoming. Every year the audition date is either over homecoming weekends or SATs for many schools across the state. There is nothing we can do about this conflict, as this is a state mandated date. If you are planning to take the SAT that day, you may want to do it at a site near Longwood University (drive down the night before, take your test and then go to the audition in the early afternoon).  The honors choir chairperson is very good about honoring requests for audition times so that you can take your SAT (even if planned in NOVA) and get to your audition (you would just be going to youraudition later in the day…somewhere between 4 and 8 PM). I have had students in the pastaudition for honors choir on an SAT date and it has worked out.

As more details become available regarding audition times, I will let you know.

In the meanwhile, please PLAN AHEAD.

You will perform with a live accompanist and in front of a panel of judges.

Sight reading is worth 20% of your overall score.

Let me know if you have further questions.

 Thanks,

 Mrs. Gigliotti
